My name is Göran Strand. I’ve been working as a freelance photographer since 2002. I’m based in Östersund, Sweden, but do work all over the world.

My work as a photographer covers everything from astrophotography to advertising, northern lights, product photos and sport photography. In addition to my photography I also hold lectures and workshops in photography and astronomy.

Several of my photos have been published by NASA’s Astronomy Picture Of the Day, SpaceWeather.com, National Geographic and several other national and international media. My film material has been used by, among others, Coldplay, Spitz Incorporated, Discovery Channel, MSNBC, SVT and several web-based news media.

In November 2016, PostNord released five of my Northern lights pictures as stamps. In 2016 and 2013, I was rewarded best astrophotographer of the year in Sweden.

As of 2020 I’m working together with Nikon as a Nikon Creator with their mirror less system.

Astrophotography and the Northern Lights

Taking photos of the night sky and the northern lights is a big passion of mine and something I like to teach others.
